Coordinator for Nordic Resilience Project

 

 

On behalf of the consortium of Icelandic, Finnish and Danish Red Cross, the Danish Red Cross is seeking an experienced professional with strong coordination, managerial and capacity building expertise and skills to support the Nordic Red Cross Consortium’s partnership with Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS).

Nordic Community Resilience Project 2016 – 19
The Nordic Consortium project in Malawi will support Malawi Red Cross and communities in Southern Malawi enhancing their resilience. The target group will be 150.000  people, who MRCS will assist to improve their health and overcome natural risks, and develop capacity to engage with local governments for provision of services. The project will also assist MRCS developing into a strong national society with a strong volunteer base, well-functioning branch structures, and youth acting as change agents.

Your tasks will include

  • To develop and sustain the partnership between the Consortium Partners and MRCS and to represent Consortium Partners in movement coordination in Malawi
  • To support the Consortium Steering Group overseeing and managing the Resilience Project 
  • To support MRCS in project management of the  Resilience Project 
  • To support MRCS in developing their capacity to become a strong National Society in particular in the areas of volunteer management and branch development and youth; 
  • To assist Consortium Partners in their engagement in Malawi, for DRC specifically to monitor and support the development of the DRC country strategy.

Your profile
You hold a University degree in International studies or similar, and have 5-10 years of professional field experience in developing countries.

You have substantial experience in project management and have experience from working with National Red Cross Societies. You have a good understanding of donor requirements, working with log frames, promotion of cross-cutting themes of gender and social equity and climate smart programming. You have excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, are flexible and can cope under pressure, and you can lead, motivate and develop staff. Finally you are fluent in written and spoken English.

Employment Conditions
The starting date is 1 January 2016. The length of the contract is 24 months.

Your duty station will be Lilongwe, Malawi with monthly travels to Southern Malawi. The position is a family duty station. You will report to the DRC’ Head of Region for Southern Africa based in Harare Zimbabwe. The salary including all allowances and pension will be approximately DKK 44.500 to 46.500 per month pending qualifications and experience.
