Francois Zimeray gives a talk on his experience as a former Human Rights Ambassador for France (2008-2013). In particular, Mr. Zimeray will talk on women’s rights.

What are the challenges? Why is it important to fight for women’s rights worldwide, including education for girls? How will the strengthening of women’s rights or lack of same, affect all human beings?

After the talk, there will be a Q&A session.

The event will be conducted in English. Check-in from 4.30 pm in the lobby (Ground Floor)

Background:

In his book "Jeg har set det samme ansigt overalt" Francois Zimeray gives a glimpse of some of his observations of inhuman cruelties during his assignment as Human Rights Ambassador for France in some of the world’s worst burning points, such as Rwanda, Burma, Colombia, Libya, Chechnya (Tjetjenien) and Congo.

The book is an attempt to point out the difficult circumstances of human rights in many places in the world and a fight against indifference and oblivion (forglemmelse).

A fight that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has just bolstered by launching its largest extra-budgetary funds to date for its 2017 work programme to protect and advance the rights of people around the world
