Global Funding Advisor, DanChurchAid –Copenhagen, Denmark

 DanChurchAid´s (DCA) is looking for a committed and energetic person with documented experience fundraising from institutional donors. Your main task will be to ensure funding for DCA´s program activities within areas of long – term development that include food security, climate and active citizenship (democracy building, social movements and advocacy). DCA´s interventions are in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
 
As Global Funding Advisor you will be part of the DCA Global Funding Unit (GFU). You will work together with three other Global Funding Advisors based in Copenhagen and seven Global Funding Officers in DCA offices around the world. You will be main focal person for a group of countries, which you will support in resource mobilization, including the development of country fundraising strategies, coordination of design processes of applications, networking with donors and grants management.
 
As Global Funding Advisor you will work in close collaboration with technical units in DCA headquarters as finance, procurement and logistics and program units, as well as with the staff at DCA´s country offices. The work routines in the Global Funding Unit are very often characterised by tight deadlines and require abilities to coordinate processes and foster good work relations in stressful situations. You can expect travel activity at short notice.  
 
 
Your tasks

  • Obtain and share knowledge on donor policies and priorities. This will include tendency monitoring and knowledge of funding cycles.
  • Contribute to increased DCA branding and visibility among donors through targeted donor outreach.
  • Establish relevant relations with donors and facilitate overall networking.
  • Advice and facilitate the development of Country Office Fundraising Strategies.
  • Coordinate project design and proposal writing processes in cooperation with the relevant Country Office and units in headquarter.
  • Advise on contract negotiation, communication with donor and compliance of donor requirements throughout the project cycle.
  • Support capacity building activities of staff of relevant DCA staff and/or local civil society partners.

 
 We expect the following qualifications from you

  • Experience with major international donors that fund the program areas mentioned above, including proposal development, donor liaison and grants management. Direct experience with a number of institutional donors as the EU, USAID, international foundations, other government donors and multi-donor trust funds.
  • Knowledge, practical experience and network in specialized areas as climate funds/donors and/or  value chain approach in food security is an advantage.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate proposal development and reporting processes with the input of multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong background in reporting and quality assurance of complex international projects.
  • Relevant higher education.
  • Committed, flexible and result-oriented.
  • Accountability and integrity.
  • Ability to travel – sometimes on short notice – to assist country offices and partners in proposal development.
  • Fluency in English necessary.
  • Thoroughness in the execution of tasks is essential.
  • Cultural sensitivity, proven diplomatic skills and the ability to build relations both within and outside DCA.
