Today May 27 (fredag, red.), we are very happy, because it is the day of the different languages spoken in our country.

How nice languages we have! We are all pleased with our tongues, which we communicate and live well with.

The indigenous or native language is the principal form of communication, affirmation and identification of a person. It is a major element that identifies a society and allows us to transmit information in the context in which we live.

Currently, in Peru there are 47 indigenous languages spoken by 4 million, the highest diversity of languages is in the Amazon: 43 Amazonian languages, of which 25 are spoken in the Loreto region.

May 27 is celebrated in Peru, the day of the native language, in recognition of indigenous languages that are the basis of our rich cultural diversity.

This commemoration was established during the government of Juan Velasco Alvarado by Decree Law 21156 on 27 May 1975.

In the same year where Quechua was recognized as an official language and ancestral legacy of Peruvian culture.

Thus their learning is promoted in public and private schools of Quechua-speaking communities with the intention of promoting intercultural dialogue throughout the national territory. Unfortunately, this policy of state was not taken or promoted by the following governments.

Students, faculty and staff of the Training Program of Bilingual Teachers of the Peruvian Amazon-Formabiap, invite you to remember that we must continue to speak our language and strengthen our socio-cultural identity.
