Verdenssekretariatet for Det internationale Rehabiliteringsråd for Torturofre (IRCT), der ligger i København, har netop færdiggjort bevillingerne til sit “2009 IRCT Centre Grant Scheme”, skriver Rådet i sit elektroniske nyhedsbrev mandag.

67 centres located in five regions of the world will receive a total of 495.000 euro (see regional distribution below). Grant beneficiaries are centres that struggle financially due to scarce funding for the work with rehabilitation of torture survivors.

The main objective of this scheme is to support rehabilitation centres efforts to ensure that torture victims in low income/middle income countries have access to professional and effective treatment.

The main criteria used to evaluate applications were:

– Applicants commitment to treatment and rehabilitation of torture survivors
– Relevance and expected benefits of the requested grant
– Applicants financial resources
– Applicants efforts to raise funding and to engage in partnerships
