40 years after the first United Nations Conference on the Environment in Stockholm and 20 years after the conference on environment and development in Rio de Janeiro, the UN is hosting a world conference about sustainable development in June 2012 in Rio, also known as Rio+20.

– How has the UN – in cooperation with national governments, the business community and civil society – prepared for this conference?
– What key documents exist?
– What are the dominant arguments in the debate?
– What can the world and the generations to come expect from the results of the Rio+20 conference, and how can we move on?

Board member of the Danish United Nations Association, Niels Johan Juhl-Nielsen, will give a
briefing on the process behind Rio+20, before encouraging a debate on how to ensure a sustainable future.

The presentation and debate will be held in english.

After the presentation Niels Johan will talk about our work in the UNA and how you get involved.

The debate is arranged in collaboration between the Danish United Nations Association and DIRES.
