Speaking at an international gathering of bishops in Lambeth, south London, UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown issued a warning Thursday that the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs -2015 Målene) will be missed unless international resolve hardens.
His plea for more official development assistance (ODA) comes ahead of an emergency UN session on the millennium goals on September 25 in New York – a meeting the prime minister said would be a chance to “redeem (indfri) the pledges that have been promised”.
The overall goal of the MDGs is to halve world poverty seven years from now.
