2030-målene: Globale udfordringer og muligheder for den private sektor

The UN member states adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in 2015. The same year the Paris Agreement to fight Climate Change was signed in Paris. The Financing for Development Conference took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia the same year, identifying the huge resources needed to fund the new global goals. These agreements combined constitute the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

This event provides a platform for participants to learn about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs partnership platforms, share experiences from developing countries and address issues encountered to formulate solutions in thematic breakout sessions. It will also be possible to have one-to-one meetings with representatives from the UN, the Danish Trade Council, Danida and EKF.

Background of hosting entities

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds a broad package of instruments facilitating innovative private-public partnership models, from the first market access to feasibility studies and further to project development and implementation.

Instruments having an overall focus on infrastructure projects with strong sustainable development impact whose business models can be replicated and up-scaled.

Private-public partnerships that supports the development of new markets and framework conditions catalysing private sector investments in inclusive sustainable growth and job creation in sectors where Denmark has strongholds underpinning partner countries reaching their sustainable development goals.

UNOPS as the operational arm of the United Nations and only self-financing entity within the UN system, combine private sector efficiency with UN values. UNOPS work directly with governments, NGOs, other members of the UN family and international financing bodies.

Through this capacity, UNOPS have access to project pipelines in emerging markets of developing countries, and can identify opportunities for the private sector across a broad range of sectors.

UNOPS’ local presence across 80 countries, government access, political frameworks and protections as part of the UN system that creates transparency, accountability, and integrity, enable UNOPS to be a de-risking agent, which combined with funding from Danica’s Partnership Platforms and the Investment Fund for Developing Countries can open new markets.
