Job: ActionAid Denmark is looking for a Coordinator for new Innovation & Global Activism project



 
 
 
 

 

Do you want to impact global, political agendas by coordinating how we re-think our support to organized youth-led movements? And can you balance it with an internal need for coordinated support to agile project management? 
 
In the coming years, ActionAid Denmark (AADK) will grow significantly as an organization. In 2022, we will be 30.000 members, more volunteers and more stakeholders, who will actively participate in our visions for a more just and sustainable world. We will deepen our work with social movements, organizing and direct action particularly by expanding our present Global Platform network to more than 50 vibrant initiatives by 2020 through bold and youth-led innovation.  
 
In 2018 we are initiating an Innovation project to support young change agents in building inclusive democracy from the bottom up by exploring alternative methods and pathways for political participation and youth organizing. The Innovation project is based on lessons learnt from 10 years of experience in supporting activism globally and is currently AADK’s main laboratory for risk-taking, creativity, new opportunities, and ways for breaking through status quo. 
 
As the Innovation Project Coordinator, you will:  
  • Lead the support for innovation pilot projects and ensure coordination, innovation and structured collection and analysis of lessons learned;
  • Test new ways of working with/for youth and integrate this in the on-going refinement of our Global Platform concept;
  • Lead the development and coordination of the social innovation cultivator project to ensure AADKs innovation project have a wide outreach to alternative and strategic partners;  
  • Be the ambassador for the process of generating new ideas/projects, driven by our partners in the field while facilitating and creating innovation competences / mindset in the organization; 
  • Ensure mechanisms for measuring outcomes and capturing lessons learnt from innovation pilots are updated and adjusted;
 
The job requires that you have:   
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant practical experience in one or more of the following:
  • Solid experience in innovation and agile project management, taking prototypes to scale while collaborating with several partners at the same time;  
  • Solid experience of different approaches to empowerment, campaigning, activism and mobilization of youth, including working with or within volunteering; 
  • Experience with business development within social movements and/or smaller startup organizations;  
  • Experience from a coordinating role and an ability to set the agenda quickly while ensuring a systematic and thorough completion of ongoing projects;  
  • Full proficiency in English;  
  • Have completed a University degree within a relevant field, i.e. entrepreneurship, project management or social science.
 
And it is great if you have: 
  • Experience from working with youth-led activism and organising on a global scale, within education and capacity development, preferably within projects with a political agenda; 
  • Experience from collaborating with people in geographically different locations; 
  • Experience from working in developing countries and/or in a global/intercultural work environment;   
  • Experience from working within a civil society organization, social movement and/or the international development sector; 
 
It is a prerequisite that you are led by a creative and innovative mindset, and that you have the courage to take lead on new initiatives. You dare exploring untraditional approaches and thinking, while keeping a structured overview of the ongoing projects. In addition, you are respecting and genuinely valuing others – also if they have a different background or approach than you.
