Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan and South Sudan programmes

 

ADRA DK’s humanitarian programme portfolio is growing, and we are therefore looking for an experienced Humanitarian Coordinator to manage our humanitarian programme portfolio in Sudan and South Sudan in close coordination with our two other Humanitarian Coordinators.

The humanitarian sub-team will work closely together with the rest of our programme team, which currently consists of seven staff members.

The Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan and South Sudan will be based in Denmark, but is expected to spend a considerable amount of time in our partner countries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management of ADRA Denmark’s humanitarian country programmes in Sudan and South Sudan

  • Support to the development of ADRA Denmark’s future humanitarian strategy and intervention areas

  • Support to the expansion of ADRA Denmark’s humanitarian programme portfolio, including identification of new funding opportunities

  • Development and quality assurance of new project proposals and reports in cooperation with our partners in the ADRA network to ensure compliance with ECHO and Danida guidelines

  • Ensuring that risk assessments and Theories of Change (ToCs) for ADRA Denmark’s engagement in South Sudan and Sudan are regularly updated

  • Monitoring of ADRA Denmark supported humanitarian programme activities in South Sudan and Sudan and ensuring that they are coordinated with other interventions

  • Liaising with other ADRA offices supporting humanitarian work in Sudan and South Sudan

  • Keeping ADRA Denmark informed about the political and security situation in South Sudan and Sudan

  • Providing inputs to the annual reports related to the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) with Danida

  • Staying updated on humanitarian donor guidelines and funding opportunities and ensuring that partners are informed about the same

  • Strengthening some of ADRA Denmark’s strategic intervention areas (protection, WASH, cash-based programming, education in emergencies, early recovery, DRR, humanitarian-development nexus)

  • Providing inputs to ADRA Denmark’s Communication and Fundraising Department

 

Qualifications:

  • A relevant education, preferably at a higher degree level

  • At least five years’ relevant professional experience in humanitarian programme management

  • Experience from working in ADRA’s humanitarian programme countries is an advantage

  • Ability to travel extensively and in insecure environments

  • Specific knowledge on strategic intervention areas such as protection, WASH, cash-based programming, education in emergencies, early recovery, DRR, humanitarian-development nexus

  • Knowledge on donor requirements and guidelines (ECHO, Danida)

  • Good writing skills; fluency in written and spoken English

  • Knowledge of Sphere and the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS)

  • Strong networking skills, intercultural and social competences

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a humanitarian team

  • Solution-oriented while following guidelines

  • Motivation to work in a faith-based civil society organisation

 

Employment conditions:

As per the ADRA Denmark terms. The salary level follows the basic government salary scale.

The workplace is Nærum, Denmark. The position will include extensive travel activity to Sudan and South Sudan.
