Bitter Grapes: Workers' Rights on South African Wine Farms

Public meeting with three South African activists and the Danish documentarian Tom Heinemann.

Join us for a talk on workers' rights in the rural areas in South Africa in the aftermath of the documentary released last year by Tom Heinemann: ”Bitter Grapes”.

The director of the political organisation TCOE, Mercia Andreas, visits Scandinavia together with the two leaders of the workers union CSAAWU, Karel Swart and Trevor Christians

The three activists will present an update and talk on the current political situation in South Africa and in the rural areas, where poor wine farm labourers are working under harsh conditions reminiscent of the apartheid era.

Together with Tom Heinemann the discussion will highlight the development in light of the awareness raised during last years’ campaigns and released documentary.

Mercia, Karel and Trevor join us after a visit to Norway, where they will receive the Norwegian Artur Svensson Prize:http://svenssonstiftelsen.com/the-arthur-svensson-international-prize-for-trade-union-rights-to-south-african-wine-workers/.
