Call for consultant:

The Danish Family Planning Association (DFPA) is seeking an experienced and qualified consultant to accomplish a mapping exercise comprising strategies, policies, funding, and rules and regulations on population dynamics, climate change and environmental sustainability in Kenya and Uganda.

Background

DFPA is a non-governmental organization without religious or political affiliations. We work with associations and organizations within the sphere of sexual and reproductive health and rights and are a member of International Planned Parenthood Federation.

From 2014-2017 DFPA has been implementing a project in Kenya with a focus on resilience of vulnerable communities through the integration of reproductive health and rights into sustainable development programming. This project finalizes with an end of project evaluation by end of October 2018. In the coming programme period, 2018-2021 DFPA will be working closely together with WWF in Kenya and Uganda with the aim to create a joint implementation of an integrated programme approach to development, linking Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights to Natural Resource Management and Climate Adaptation, and to promote local and global advocacy based on evidence from these interventions.

 

Purpose

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide an overview of strategies, policies, funding and rules and regulations on population dynamics, climate change and environmental sustainability in Kenya and Uganda. Further, to give an overview of relevant institutions, ministries, organizations etc., their interrelations, power of influence and possible entree points, with a view to how best to influence the SRHR-agenda. Also a description on how the countries are dealing with population dynamics, climate change and environmental sustainability on the regional and global level and how this is linked to the local policy level.

Competences and qualifications of Consultant

DFPA is seeking a consultant who has the following competences and experiences:

  • Proven experiences from other government donor financed projects.
  • Knowledge of environmental sustainability/Climate Changes in a development context.
  • Professional experience from development assistance to Uganda and/or Kenya, including experience with civil society organizations.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of SRHR is considered an asset.
