Job: The Danish Institute for Human Rights: Innovative Advisor Sustainable Development

INNOVATIVE ADVISOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

We are exploring the interface and synergies between international human rights instruments and the Sustainable Development Goals. Do you want to join?

The Danish Institute for Human Rights has developed broad horizontal analysis and guidance on the convergence between human rights and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. You will be working in a small and dedicated team to build up the initiatives and partnerships that can consolidate and further develop our programme. Your main tasks will include global advocacy and national implementation, through analysis, tools development, report writing and capacity-building.

As part of the team, you will contribute to:
  •  generating further analysis, knowledge and tools on the human rights-based approach to selected elements of the 2030 Agenda (e.g. particular goals and targets, as well as cross-cutting themes);
  • working with the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions and other partners, to develop capacity and tools for national-level implementation, participation and accountability;
  • influencing regional and international policy and reporting processes, including by promoting multi-stakeholder participation and dialogue.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
You have a relevant academic degree, and solid understanding and several years of experience with the intertwined fields of human rights and development. You have working experience from one or more developing countries, preferably from working with bi- or multilateral agencies or relevant civil society organisations.

As we work on a broad agenda and operate in complex environments, you have a strong analytical mind and are able to navigate at different levels with diverse partners from both government and civil society. Ideally, you have knowledge of National Human Rights Institutions, or additional relevant thematic experience within the social, economic and environmental pillars of sustainable development.

Our resources are limited, so you are flexible about tasks and approaches and ready to contribute to teamwork. You know that good project management, administration and reporting are indispensable to achieve our vision. Excellent command of English is a requirement and additional languages are an asset.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The position is full-time based in Copenhagen with significant international travel. Salary is set in accordance with the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

APPLICATION DEADLINE
Please submit your application no later than 12.00 CET on 18 September 2016 by using the form found on our website http://humanrights.dk/about-us/vacancies. The application should include cover letter, CV, diploma and a short writing sample in English.

DIHR appreciates diversity in the workplace. If qualified, we strongly encourage you to apply for the position.
