Danish Red Cross is seeking an experienced and motivated delegate to develop and manage our programme portfolio in South Caucasus

Support to vulnerable people in Georgia and Armenia

As Regional delegate for the Danish Red Cross you will be responsible for supporting the National Red Cross Societies of Georgia and Armenia in the management of Danish Red Cross supported programmes and in developing their capacity towards being organisations that persistently delivers, through volunteers and staff, relevant country wide services to vulnerable people sustained for as long as needed and that contributes to the strengths of civil society.

Danish Red Cross is part of the global Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. In Europe Danish Red Cross works particularly with Red Cross partners in Ukraine, Belarus, Greece, Central Europe and Caucasus to:

  • build resilient communities and Red Cross capacities to respond to conflict and disaster
  • empower civil societies by strengthening the capacities and outreach of partner Red Cross National Societies
  • promote and contribute to ensuring the psychosocial well-being, protection and social cohesion

 

Your tasks

You will be responsible for assisting and supporting the National Red Cross Societies of Georgia and Armenia in developing, planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring projects within the areas of disaster management, diabetes prevention and youth & volunteering development and local Red Cross branch development. You will work closely with ICRC and other partners in the region. You will ensure that all Danish Red Cross’ obligations concerning project implementation are properly conducted and reported to the Danish Red Cross Regional Office and HQ.

Representation, partnership and capacity development is an integrated part of the job. Likewise the delegate you will be expected to actively engage in fundraising and project development together with the local Red Cross National Societies and partners.

 During small and medium scale disasters, you will lead the Danish Red Cross actions within disaster response.

  

Your profile

You have a minimum of 4 years’ experience with international development programmes and have documented experience in working with emergency preparedness, youth & volunteering and organisational development. You are used to working with volunteer based organisations and have experience with capacity building and project development. Furthermore, you have experience with fundraising and are familiar with EU funding instruments.

You have a master’s degree and excellent English speaking and writing and reporting skills. Good coordination, networking and facilitation skills will be essential. Russian language skills will be an asset. Working experience from the region and the Red Cross Movement will be a significant advantage.

The Regional Delegate in South Caucasus is part of the Danish Red Cross Europe team and works closely with the other members of the regional team both at the Regional Office in Copenhagen and in the field.

 

We offer

The starting date is 1 September 2017 or soonest thereafter. The length of the contract is 24 months. Your duty station will be Tbilisi, Georgia, which is considered a family duty station. You will report to the Danish Red Cross Head of Region for Europe based in Copenhagen.

The salary including all allowances and pension will be between DKK 41,400 and 43,700 depending on qualifications and experience.
