Debat i FN Byen: Krydsfeltet mellem konflikt og sult

Conflicts are increasing in number and complexity, hampering efforts to end hunger by 2030. Conflict is today the leading cause of hunger – with more than half of the 815 million hungry people in the world living in countries affected by conflict. With millions in Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen on the brink of famine. At the same time, hunger drives conflicts – hunger fuels longstanding grievances and disputes over land, livestock and other assets.

The United Nations World Food Programme’s Nordic Office invites you to join the debate “Conflict & Hunger” which focuses on the nexus between hunger, conflict, migration and peace. The following experts will offer perspectives and potential solution on the global hunger crisis: 

• Birgitte Qvist-Sørensen, Secretary General, Danish Church Aid
• Peter Albrecht, Senior researcher, Danish Institute for International Studies
• Yvonne Forsen, Deputy Head, United Nations World Food Programme
• Jacob Jørgensen, Head of Office, International Organization for Migration

The panel will be moderated by Louise Stigsgaard Nissen and Janne Louise Andersen, editors from Magasinet 360.

The debate will be in English and is open for all. Please note that registration for visitors from outside of the UN City is mandatory in order to pass through a security check point. Remember to bring a valid photo identification.
