Job: Folkekirkens Nødhjælp (DCA) is looking for a Safety & Security Manager



 
Safety & Security Manager to strengthen our ability to take care of ourselves and our assets around the world.
 
 

 
 
We have many skilled and engaged staff globally, who every day do their best to create a better world. Some of these are in safe locations, and some work in unstable environments.
 
We have to be realistic regarding the threats that currently surround the work as a NGO.
Therefore, we need you to help us take care of our ourselves and our assets while we implement humanitarian and development projects worldwide.
 
We look for a new colleague, who will use her/his skillset in strengthening the safety & security assessment, analysis and preparedness of our organization, building on an already well-established security awareness.
This position is initially part-time, but could potentially become full-time according to the funding situation.
 
You will be supporting a global organization that has offices and programs in Africa, Asia and Middle East area. Our head-quarter is located in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the contract will be issued. 
 
You will report directly to the Humanitarian Director, and will hold the organizational mandate to define DCA security measures, risk levels and ensure local compliance with our safety and security standards.
 
It is our ambition that you as our security and safety manager will be able to handle this wide range of tasks:

  • Act as the overall safety & security focal point in HQ, providing ongoing assessment and analysis especially for high-risk country programs.
  • Cooperate effectively with ACT alliance security focal points
  • Mentor and guide safety & security focal points at country offices and programs.
  • Update and simplify DCA security policies and manual in order to ensure a greater level of manageability.
  • Quality control standard security operating procedures, which reflect the current contexts that DCA operates in.
  • Develop and maintain risk awareness tool kits for travelers outside DCA countries
  • Develop an organizational safety & security curriculum for DCA staff
  • Plan and conduct trainings in safety & security enhancing and risk reducing actions for individual staff and offices & program
  • Advise managers on handling safety & security issues
  • Plan and facilitate the quarterly DCA HQ security group meetings in Copenhagen
  • Participate in DCA Crisis Management Team as assembly coordinator
  • Aggregating safety & security incidents, and distill subsequent learning points.
  • Proactively initiate risk assessments of new programs or projects, in areas outside DCA presence
  • Develop safety & security tools that can be implemented by DCA partners and to some extent participate in the training of this.

In order to take on the tasks we expect that you have held similar positions before, you think realistically and cost-effectively, and have acquired a developed toolkit, based on your practical experiences with safety & security management, as well as your ability to reflect and learn from these.
 
Your educational background can be many, as long as you have a "hands-on" mindset as well as the ability to instill confidence and handle complex situations.
You must be fluent in oral and written English, and proficiency in French is an added value for our preferred candidate.
 
This is a position that will require travelling to our mission areas in Asia, Middle East and Africa.
