Support to increase the income and strengthen the effective performance management of Oxfam IBIS

Background Information
The Performance Management and Fundraising team has three objectives for its work which cuts across the work in the other teams in the International Department:

  1. Raise funds from Danish and international institutional donors (Danida, foundations, EU, DFID, SIDA, UN, etc.).
  2. Manage grants in an effective and accountable way
  3. Monitor and document our performance and results

We are currently five persons in the team with different key responsibilities, but with a lot of collaboration and coordination. Our work involves other teams and departments in Oxfam IBIS and the intern will be part of this cross-cutting work.
In addition, as part of the global NGO-alliance Oxfam, much of the work of the team implies cooperation and communication with Oxfam-colleagues abroad. The intern will get a chance to be part of a dedicated and inspiring global community.
 
The task
The Oxfam IBIS Performance Management and Fundraising team is seeking an intern for the period of five months during autumn 2018. Types of tasks:

  1. Analyse and summarize various donor strategies and other official documents outlining priorities and frameworks.
  2. Undertake scoping studies and literature reviews.  
  3. Write up short conceptual presentation and information papers on thematic areas within key area of Oxfam IBIS development and humanitarian support.
  4. Systematise and manage data (performance/results) from Oxfam IBIS programmes globally.
  5. Update info platforms linked to grant management
  6. Update Oxfam IBIS background information schemes. 
  7. Provide practical support for meetings and events

 
Priority and balance between these tasks cannot be outlined in detail at this point as it will depend on the specific tasks of the Performance Management and Fundraising team during autumn 2018 as well as the competences and particular interests of the intern.
 
Support of Intern 
Oxfam IBIS will ascertain that all formal requirements with respect to strong professional monitoring of the learning and skills development of the interns are met. To this end, a supervisor will be selected among the team members to accompany, support and guide the intern.
 
 
Qualifications
The right candidate:

  • Is undertaking a relevant higher education, preferably within social sciences or business school
  • Has strong analytical skills
  • Has skills and experience in documentation and written communication
  • Has interest in systematic and methodological approaches
  • Is fluent in Danish and English (French/Spanish is an advantage, but not a requirement)
  • Is able to work independently on your own and as part of a team
