The European Commission Tuesday allocated 61.2 million Euro from the European Development Fund in support of efforts by the World Heath Organisation to eradicate polio in 14 African countries. This confirms the EUs firm commitment to combating polio globally.
For many of us, polio is a thing of the past… But in spite of important achievements in the fight against polio, the disease remains a problem in some 50 countries around the world. We need a final push, therefore, to achieve total eradication, said Development and Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Poul Nielson.
