WASHINGTON, 26 January 2009: Iraqs government will have less money to spend in 2009 than expected because of plunging oil prices, a situation that has already forced the country to reduce rebuilding plans by 40 per cent.
Meanwhile, a study concluded, that some 44 per cent of Iraqis received a monthly income of less than 100.000 Iraqi dinars (85 US dollar), or less than 2,7 dollar a day. The study unveiled Sunday by the World Bank and the Iraqi Ministry of Planning, and called “Iraq Socio-Economic Survey”, shows that a considerable percentage of people in Iraq still live in poverty despite the fact that Iraq possesses the worlds third-largest oil reserves.
