At least 30 people have died and scores are missing after three days of incessant (vedvarende) rain in India, officials say according to BBC Online Tuesday.
Most of the deaths have occurred because of landslides and collapsed houses following heavy rain in the states of Orissa and Jharkhand.
In Indias financial capital, Mumbai (Bombay), schools are shut and transport systems have been hit after heavy rain. Nearly 1.000 people died in floods and heavy rain in the city and surrounding areas last year.
Meanwhile, at least 17 people died in Pakistan after flooding in the north-eastern district of Swat, police say.
Police say a river burst its banks, submerging houses late on Sunday. Five people were rescued.
