Another asbestos-lined vessel is heading for the western Indian ship-breaking yard in Alang, the environmental group Greenpeace says according to BBC Online Monday.

The Blue Lady was an Oceanliner originally named the SS France, and later the SS Norway. It has more than 900 tonnes of toxic waste, Greenpeace says.

The ship was banned from Bangladeshi breaking yards in February. In the same month, France recalled the asbestos-lined carrier (hangarskib), the Clemenceau, following widespread protests in India.

A port officer at the Alang ship-breaking yard, A K Rathore, told the BBC that the yard had received no official information about the SS Norway.

Greenpeace says the 11 storied 315 metre Blue Lady, which was launched in 1960, is expected to reach Indian waters between 20-23 May.
