The Nordic Office of World Food Programme (WFP) takes this opportunity to inform you about our future activities in order to enhance the information about WFP in the Nordic countries.
The official UN Information Centre (UNIC) for the Nordic countries was closed down the 31st of December 2003. Information for a Nordic public on general UN-matters, including the Security Council and the secretariat in New Yorkwill in the future be a responsibility of the new Regional UN Information Centre (RUNIC), located in Brussels.
The Nordic Office of WFP will be able to provide you with information about food aid and humanitarian assistance around the world. We are sending out a newsletter to interested persons in the Nordic countries. If you want to receive this very brief newsletter, please let us know ([email protected]).
We are as well planning to introduce websites in five Nordic languages (Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish) during 2004.
We have secured translation of a number of information materials into Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish. We have distributed the following publications:
“Food as Aid”; a booklet of 28 pages about food assistance and development
“Hunger”; a 32 pages newspaper about WFP activities around the world
“Widening the window of hope”; a booklet of 28 pages about food aid, HIV/AIDS and orphans
“Bringing hope to a generation”; a pamphlet with extract of the above
“First line of defense”; a pamphlet on food aid and HIV/AIDS
All the above mentioned publications are in stock in the Nordic languages and can be ordered free of charge from our office.
Please feel free to contact the Nordic Office of World Food Programme in Copenhagen.
