At a UN conference in New York Tuesday, the UN and the World Bank presented three social programs in Mexico, Brazil and Uganda as models for promoting development that can be adapted successfully in industrialized countries.
– Ten years ago, the idea was that the developed world had all the answers and the developing world had to imitate them, to see what was done in Sweden in the water sector, or how France had reformed its hospitals, World Bank Vice President for Latin America, Pamela Cox said.
– What has changed, is that the developing world is innovating on its own because hospital reform in Sweden is very different than one in Brazil, she explained.
