I 2016 skal København være vært for Women Deliver-konferencen, der bliver den største konference om kvinders rettigheder og sundhed i et årti. Kronprinsessen, der i forvejen er stærkt engageret i kvinders forhold, skal være konferencens protektor.
NEW YORK, 25 February 2015 (Women Deliver): In May 2016, thousands of world influencers, advocates, activists, researchers, policymakers, young people, journalists, private sector leaders, and members of civil society will gather in Copenhagen, Denmark, to share ideas and strategize on how to make the world a better place for girls and women.
This will happen at the next global Women Deliver Conference – the largest conference on girls and women’s health and rights for more than a decade – and today it was announced that Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark will be the patron of the conference.
“We are beyond thrilled to have Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark as a patron of the 2016 conference,” said Women Deliver’s CEO, Katja Iversen.
“Her Royal Highness is a strong voice and dedicated advocate for saving and improving the lives of girls and women, and not least the importance of investing in maternal, sexual, and reproductive health and rights. Together, we will amplify the importance of investing in girls and women to make real change happen around the world.”

“Girls and women must be at the heart of sustainable development and when we prioritize their health, rights, and wellbeing everybody stands to win. Improving their lives is the foundation for building vibrant, healthy and prosperous families, economies, and societies. I am committed to working together with Women Deliver to ensure that girls and women remain at the center of development efforts.”
The Women Deliver 2016 Conference will be one of the first big global conferences following the launch of a new global development framework – the Sustainable Development Goals.
Over 5,000 participants from all over the world will look at how to implement these new development goals as they relate to the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women.
There will be a specific focus on maternal, sexual, and reproductive health and rights – and the inter-connections with gender equality, education, environment, and economic empowerment.
The conference, which is the fourth Women Deliver conference, will be held at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark from 16-19 May 2016.
