Job: Country Director for Cambodia



Are you our new Country Director for Cambodia?

Do you want to lead a dedicated team of locally hired staff at our country office and enhance Mission Alliance’s efforts against poverty and injustice in Cambodia? 

As our Country Director in Cambodia, you will play a key role in advancing our mission in alignment with Mission Alliance’s new global strategy. You will oversee a growing program portfolio, working closely with local partners and the staff at our country office. 

Your role: 

  • Strategic leadership and daily operations of the country office 
  • Responsible for the growth, quality, and further development of our program work 
  • Securing new funding and fostering innovation 
  • Ensuring financial management and compliance, including efforts against corruption 
  • Representing Mission Alliance locally by building relationships and networks with partners, other organizations, potential donors, and the private sector 

As Country Director at Mission Alliance, you will be part of a team of Country Directors globally and report directly to the International Director in Oslo. We are looking for a leader who is motivated to represent a Christian organization and our mission to combat poverty and promote justice. 

Your profile: 

  • Proven leadership experience, preferably in cross-cultural teams 
  • Experience in long-term development work or other international roles 
  • Competence in working with partner organizations and churches 
  • Familiarity with civil society work, diaconia, and Norwegian development policy 
  • Strong financial understanding and experience with grant management or institutional donors 
  • Relevant higher education, preferably in social sciences, international relations/development, economics, or similar fields 

Personal qualities: 

  • Strategic mindset and strong analytical skills 
  • Structured and action-oriented 
  • Ability to inspire others and lead teams toward shared goals 
  • Good communication and collaboration skills

Envoy for Mission Alliance:  

You will be employed as an envoy from Mission Alliance. In this role, you’ll serve as a vital link between our supporters in Norway and our work internationally. Both spouses may be considered for employment, each with their own set of responsibilities. The spouse will take on the role of Programme Adviser at the country office.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia is classified as a low-risk location for families. Travel activities, both national and international, are to be expected, and the working language is English.

Misjonsalliansen is a global Christian organization that fights poverty and promotes justice. Together with local partners, we work for economic inclusion, protection, and the empowerment of communities in 11 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Misjonsalliansen receives support from Norad through Digni for Cambodia.

Misjonsalliansen has been working in Cambodia since 2007, primarily in partnership with smaller national civil society organizations. The country office has experience in mobilizing communities, income-generating activities, and life skills for children and youth. They have been innovative in business development and are implementing the ROKSI chatbot to guide small business owners. Misjonsalliansen is part of a large network of other NGOs working in Cambodia.

The country office in Phnom Penh has 15 national staff and is a well-established office with an annual budget of approximately 27 million NOK in 2024. The Country Director leads the strategic work and daily operations together with a leadership team that includes the Program Manager/Deputy Director, Operations Manager, and Project Manager. The Country Director will be responsible for implementing Misjonsalliansen’s global strategy 2024-2028 in Cambodia, with the main focus on consolidating the program portfolio and defining areas for growth.
