It will bring together heads of government and ministers from across the region to find lasting solution to the menace in the region which UN described as “the special vulnerability region”.

West Africa has recently become a transit point for South America drugs cartel for onwards distribution to their European market. A cargo plane loaded with 600kg cocaine was earlier seized at Sierra Leone international airport Lungui with arms and ammunition onboard.

Some foreign nationals among the South Americans are currently standing trial at the Sierra Leone high court for forceful landing at Lungui among other charges. A week later another cargo plane loaded with cocaine also made a successful transit in Burkina Faso.
