Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Monday called for biofuel cooperation with Africa during his tour of Burkina Faso, local media reported.
Lula also said Brazil has agreed to offer financial backing to West African nations seeking to develop ethanol programs, although he did not give a figure.
The Brazilian president signed several agreements to assist Burkina Faso in its push to lower child mortality and develop agriculture.

By moving away from fossil fuels African countries can help tackle climate change without sacrificing economic growth, President Lula said.
Speaking in Burkina Faso, he said that a time when Africa was once again taking the path of economic growth, ethanol and biodiesel could provide a way to guarantee the continent’s energy autonomy and economic sovereignty.
in South Africa, he will meet with representatives from India and South Africa to discuss issues before the World Trade Organization.
The three nations have repeatedly called for the US and other industrialized countries to cut farm subsidies.
