CARE Danmark hires and places technical coordinators in CARE Country Offices that implement CARE Danmark programmes. CARE Danmark is now seeking a candidate for this position within CARE International in Niger. The current CARE Danmark programme in Niger consists of a natural resource management (NRM) programme with a strong focus on civil society strengthening and a community based education project.

Core tasks:
– Responsible for the further development of a coherent CARE Danmark NRM programme premised on strengthening civil society and implementation through partners

– Provide managerial, technical, administrative and programmatic support to the project managers and senior staff of the CARE Danmark funded projects implemented by CARE in Niger

– Develop linkages to and network with other important players working with NRM and civil society strengthening in Niger and in the region

– Support the strategic development of the CARE Danmark programme in Niger in terms of substance, scope and funding

Required qualifications:
– Graduate level degree in social or political sciences, development studies or related field, and experience with natural resources management

– Minimum 5 years of overseas experience in development, including proven project management experience in West-Africa or similar environment

– Experience in project design, monitoring and evaluation, and other project cycle management

– Excellent representation and networking skills

– Strong gender analysis skills

– Strong coordination and communication skills

– Strong team building skills

– Strong coaching, training and counseling skills

– Fluent in spoken and written French and English

The contract is with CARE Danmark initially for two years with possible extension. Starting date on March 15, 2006 in Niger. Interviews in Denmark around December 1st.
