Hvordan får vi unge indvandrere ind på de eurpæiske arbejdsmarkeder?

The consortium composed of partners from France, Italy, Malta and Denmark has over the past two years researched into the best approaches to effective inclusion of young migrants into the EU labour market. This has resulted in three main outputs:

a. A migrant inclusion strategy developed by the project partners

b. A Best Practices Guide for young mentors working with migrant inclusion

c. And a policy analysis paper on Inclusion

And now it is time to share these, as well as hear from other actors working within the same sector, what they themselves do and how we can best optimize our efforts.

Concrete topics:

Target group:

Local and national political leaders

So come and hear more, as well as share your opinion with hundreds of actors represented. There will also be space for networking with leading actors in the sector.

Background:

Modern day EU has never before grappled with such huge waves of immigration into its borders than the continent is currently facing. This has in turn led to one of the longest stretches of back and forth policy discussions and debates across the strata of stakeholders concerned with issues relating to immigration, immigrant inclusion, integration and other related terminologies.

Under this hood, there has also been growth of negativity towards immigrants, especially exacerbated by the ongoing refugee drift across the Mediterranean. Just over the past one year, there has been increased manifestation of negative speech against immigrants, and this is slowly turning into steadily growing xenophobia, harmful actions against migrants, as well as stereotypical and exclusionary politicking and policy making.

These incidences not only threaten the rights and thriving of migrants in EU, but in general, the entire Human Rights Based Approach and its focus on basic human rights and their application across policy domains are under compromise.

These in the long run affect efforts to welcome and include migrants into EU, and might accelerate further socioeconomic decline of this group, if they continue to face reduced chances of inclusion into the labour market, and to achieve economic independence.

Crossing Borders and its partners from France, Italy, Malta and Sweden, thus see the need for increased attention to migrant inclusion into the EU labour market, and for more coordinated efforts within this domain. There is need for joint discussion and sharing of the different efforts and strategies so facilitate migrant inclusion, but mostly, we need more positive examples of inclusion, as well as best practices to work as motivation towards more coordinated, and concentrated work in the area.

This is the goal of the symposium and public debate, to which all actors are invited to join. The meetings will be held in English.
