A number of countries in Africa continue to face numerous challenges to their stability, from Somalia where functioning state structures are absent to Mali where a military coup took place in 2012.

The continent is meeting these challenges in a number of ways, for instance through the building of an African Peace and Security Architecture. These matters have been and continue to be of considerable significance to global peace and stability.

Much analysis is being produced on African security; however, often by experts that work and live outside the continent.

This half-day seminar will provide insight into current African security issues from one of Africa’s leading think tanks on security matters: Institute for Security Studies (ISS).

ISS is a pan-African think tank, based in South Africa with offices across the continent. The seminar is an opportunity for practitioners, policy-makers and academics to gain insight into current thinking by a number of ISS scholars.
