A number of mega-projects revolving around the large deposits of natural resources in the Mozambican underground have given Mozambique the opportunity to experience real sustainable growth.
But for this to happen the government of Mozambique has to ensure that the multinational mining companies operating in the country are paying a fair price for the minerals they are extracting.
IBIS has conducted a study on how these mega-projects contribute economically to the country’s longterm development.
The report is based on the newest available data from the Mozambican extractive sector and discusses if the mining companies operating in Mozambique are paying a fair price for the natural resources they extract and thereby contribute adequately to the Mozambican economy.
At the seminar three experts will each give a presentation on Mozambique and how they see the role of the extractive industries in developing the country. There will be time for debate after each presentation as well as at the end of the last presentation.
