Taking a closer look at civil society support in Ghana and Tanzania.

Roundtable discussions with Amidu Ibrahim-Tanko (STAR/Ghana) and Kate Dyer (AcT/Tanzania).

Target group:

All organizations who has partners who are working with local fundraising for advocacy and governance accountability. Special relevance for organizations with partners in Ghana and/or Tanzania.

PROGRAMME:

* Welcome and brief round of self-introduction of participants (which organization and what local partners)
* Introduction to AcT and STAR support modalities, and results so far (Kate Dyer & Amidu Ibrahim-Tanko).
* Trends for civil society support modalities in Ghana/Tanzania in the coming years? (Kate Dyer & Amidu Ibrahim-Tanko).
* How can Danish organizations and their partners better synergize with local funding opportunities? (plenary discussion)

If more than 15 participants will register, we will divide the group into a Tanzania and a Ghana group, for more country specific discussion of issue b. and c, and then meet again in plenary.

De seneste år har set en hastig stigning i forskellige støtteformer i syd til civilsamfundsarbejdet. Og denne tendens er bestemt ikke blevet mindre fremtrædende som følge af donorernes ønske om at overføre Paris, Accra og Busan deklarationerne om ‘aid effectiveness’ til civilsamfundsstøtten.

Udgangspunktet for dette har været forventning om bedre koordinering af støtte og mindre transaktionsomkostninger. Men samtidig har støtten til civilsamfundsorganisationerne også fået et fornyet fokus på at skulle bidrage stadig mere til accoutability, good governance og fortalervirksomhed generelt.

Det er derfor naturligt at se på om erfaringerne med de mange nye sydfunding modaliteter faktisk er i stand til at bidrage til bedre fortalervirksomhed, bedre kapacitetsopbygning og færre transaktionsomkostninger?

Med tre arrangementer i december prøver CISU og Fagligt Fokus at sætte dette på dagsordenen. Målet er dels at bringe de danske organisationers viden om sydfunding ‘up to date’, og dels at inspirere til hvordan vi som CSOer kan bidrage konstruktivt til de fremtidige sydfunding mekanismer / muligheder.

Derfor er der planlagt tre arrangementer, hvor et seminar d. 10. december er hovedarrangementet.
