Malawi has launched an investigation into how 11 million US dollar (ca. 66 mio. DKR) in donor cash landed in former President Bakili Muluzis private bank accounts, the southern African countrys anti-corruption agency said Tuesday.
Incumbent President Bingu wa Mutharika has made fighting corruption a major plank of his government and his campaign has largely targeted the close circle of Muluzi, alienating Muluzi loyalists and sparking a parliament attempt to impeach him (anlægge rigsretssag mod ham).
