35-year old Line Bechmann holds a Master of Social Science in International Development Studies and Global Studies from the University of Roskilde (RUC).
She has more than six years’ experience working with development, institutional fundraising and project design for NGOs in Africa, Latin America, and Denmark.
Her experience includes fundraising and communications positions with Oxfam in Liberia and Oxfam IBIS in Nicaragua, where she worked with UN agencies, embassies, indigenous peoples’ communities and partner organisations. She has lived and worked in various developing countries in Africa and Central America (Mellemamerika).
Prior to her work for Oxfam, Line Bechmann worked for the Red Cross, Denmark, as a legal guardian for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers in the country. She also did volunteer work for AXIS, a Danish development organisation focused on education, and currently serves as a member of the AXIS Board.
Line Bechmann speaks Danish, English and Spanish. She lives in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen.
The World Diabetes Foundation is an independent trust dedicated to the prevention and treatment of diabetes in the developing world.
Its aim is to alleviate human suffering related to diabetes and its complications among those least able to withstand the burden of the disease. The Foundation supports sustainable partnerships and acts as a catalyst to help others do more.
To date, the World Diabetes Foundation has provided 141 million US dollar (godt 900 mio. DKR) in funding to 553 partnership projects in 116 countries, focusing on awareness, education and capacity building at the local, regional and global level.
For every dollar spent, the Foundation raises approximately two dollars in cash or in-kind donations from other sources.
