A former Zambian minister of lands, Gladys Nyirongo, has been sentenced to six years in jail. She was slapped with a two-year sentence for giving 10 plots of land to her children and friends, and four years for awarding a state farm to herself through abuse of office.
Anti-corruption movements say it is a continuation of the corruption fight which was strengthened by Zambia’s former president late Levy Mwanawasa.
Zambia has won the hearts of donors with its corruption fight which has also seen its former president Frederick Chiluba dragged to court for corruption.
