Indisk idé: Plastik bliver til veje

An Indian company, K.K. Plastic Waste Management, has found a novel use for the heaps of ecologically unsound plastic that litter Bangalore: it is turning it into roads.

The plastic is shredded and mixed with asphalt to form a compound called polymerized bitumen which, when used in paving, withstands monsoons and daily wear and tear better than traditional methods, and also reduces pot holes.

Meanwhile, Indian Minister of Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh said Tuesday that India was hopeful to receive 200 million US dollar (godt en milliard DKR) for integrated coastal zone management from World Bank by the end of June 2010.
