Smukke videoer om verdens skove – og “Skovens Helte” 2013

FN hædrer almindelige menneskers engagement for verdens skove, når “Skovens Helte”, de bedste videoer og fotos i 2013 afsløres under et møde i verdensorganisationens “Skovforum” denne uge i Istanbul i Tyrkiet – se flere af videoerne her.

ISTANBUL, 8. April 2013: On Wednesday, 10 April, the UN Forum on Forests Secretariat (UNFF) will hold a special awards events in the Anadolu Auditorium in Istanbul.

The UN Forests for People Awards has 3 award categories – Forest Heroes, the International Forest Short Film Festival and the International Forest Photograph Awards.

Each Award focuses on the dynamic relationship between forests and the people who depend on them.

Over 600 entries and nominations from 68 countries competed to win these prestigious Awards.

An international jury, consisting of lauded practitioners and senior UN experts have selected 5 winners in each category, who will be awarded at the ceremony.

FOREST HEROES:
All over the world people are working in quiet and heroic ways to sustain, protect and manage our forests. The Forest Hero Award celebrates these “unsung” heroes who inspire positive change for forests.

INTERNATIONAL FOREST SHORT FILM FESTIVAL:
The UNFF Secretariat has partnered with the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival to honor the creative efforts of film makers who visually capture how forests inspire, shelter, nurture and contribute to our lives.

This year’s Film Festival is for short films of five minutes or less. The very first screening of the winning films will take place at the special Awards event.

INTERNATIONAL FOREST PHOTOGRAPH CONTEST:
This is the very first global initiative by the UNFF Secretariat to celebrate the power of visual imagery in capturing the extraordinary and unique connection between people and forests.

21 photo and 21 short film finalists were announced on 21 March to celebrate the very first International Day of Forests!
