Workshop om kritisk global undervisning (Aarhus)

This training offers the rare opportunity of an intensive immersion into the theory and practice of one of the most inspiring voices on global education in the world.

Vanessa Andreotti is an internationally renowned post-colonial scholar and activist. She holds a Canada Research Chair in Race, Inequalities and Global Change at the University of British Columbia.

She has extensive experience collaborating across sectors internationally in areas related to international development, global citizenship, indigenous knowledge, social responsibility and wellbeing. In her work on education and critical literacy she takes a radical stance, challenging the basic assumptions of knowledge production and learning, inviting neglected forms of wisdom and co-creation. Through her powerful use of metaphor she is analysing our world in a manner that is fresh and creative, with mindful consideration of both its monstrosity and its beauty. Her work enables us to think and feel beyond dominant paradigms and to act for a wiser future in this planet.

Content

The workshop offers us a potpourri of Vanessa‘s explorations starting with a reflection and critical analysis of “conventional“ global (citizens) education, Vanessa will take us beyond that, sharing some of her own pedagogical experiments and experiences.  Challenging and expanding dominant ontologies (assumptions of what and how humans are to be in this world) and concepts of learning.

We generate ideas how to evolve global (citizenship) education in socially complex and politically uncertain times to a more transformative level. The workshop will consist of a mixture of intellectual and embodied exercises.

Friday 16.00 – 19.00 seminar part one, 19.30 dinner

Saturday 9.30 – 18.00 seminar part two, 19.30 dinner

Sunday 9.30 – 13.30 seminar part three

Practical

The seminar can host 20 participants.

There will be a variable participant’s fee based on solidarity principles and self-assessment (funding through employer: 100 euro. Private funding: 30-75 euro  – depending on your income situation).

Participants will pay for their transportation and accommodation. The project has limited funds for support to accommodation  based on solidarity principle to participants with fewer resources.

There will be a no-show fee of 30 euro.

When you receive the confirmation mail regarding your participation in the workshop we will provide you with a list with suggested hostels and other practical issues.
