Seminar: Media’s coverage of rape – media as part of the problem and the solution (København)
From north to south, rape of women is a global issue that needs to be addressed in a responsible manner. Media has a crucial part to play in this, as their reporting affects survivors, can impact the way authorities deal with rape and shapes public opinion and policy responses.
During two panel discussions, media practitioners, scholars and women’s rights advocates will discuss the issue of sexual violence and what media can do to improve responsible reporting. Meet:
Liz Ford, The Guardian, Deputy Editor of Global Development section online
Roua Al Taweel, Syrian Female Journalists Network, Gender Research Project Manager
Mette Gjerskov, The Danish Parliament’s cross-party network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Deputy Chairperson
Kasper Krogh, Berlingske, Managing Editor
Gabriella Nilsson, Lund University, Researcher
Mette Marie Yde, Danner, Head of Programme and Policy
Moderator: Tyson Nicholas, Australian Defense, Expert on Sexual Violence in Conflict
