Lancering af UNDPs Human Development Report 2019 (København)

Almost 30 years since its inception, the Human Development Report remains a powerful voice. This year’s report deals with inequalities in the 21st Century and how they weaken social cohesion and economic growth, and damage people’s trust in government, institutions and in each other. When taken to extremes, they bring people onto the streets.

By looking beyond income, beyond averages, and beyond today, the report presents analysis, ideas and policy options to tackle inequality’s drivers, recognizing that many inequalities are the symptom of an unfair system rather than the cause. As with most entrenched development challenges, there is no easy solution. Reversing inequality requires interventions from early childhood to old age and new thinking – particularly in the face of sweeping technological change and the climate crisis. All are politically challenging. All are possible.

Come and find out more – including how Denmark ranks on the Human Development Index this year – as UNDP and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs invite you to the Danish launch of the UNDP Human Development Report 2019!

Assistant UN Secretary-General and UNDP Bureau Director Ulrika Modèer presents the report, and State Secretary for Development Policy Trine Rask Thygesen reflects on the topic in the context of Denmark’s development strategy. This is followed by a panel debate including also Kristian Weise, Executive Director of Oxfam IBIS, and Marianne Haahr, Director of Sustainable Digital Finance.
