Konference: Nature-based solutions to the world’s biggest crises (København)

Hosted in cooperation between the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has shown us just how much we depend on maintaining the balances of nature and ecosystems.

This symposium will bring together experts in a thematic dialogue centered around the interconnectedness between nature, biodiversity, climate change and development. The symposium aims to build a shared understanding of how the crises interplay with opportunities for development, climate and conservation stakeholders to collaborate in building back better and greener, with nature at the core.

Today, one billion highly vulnerable people are facing high risks to their safety and welfare from the adverse impacts of climate change and ecosystem failure.

If we act smart, we can build back better and greener

Nature and ecosystems are being degraded at an unprecedented rate. The World Economic Forum estimates that the top 5 most likely risks the world will be facing in coming years are related to environmental challenges.

At the same time, nature and healthy ecosystems are also key to solving some of our time’s greatest challenges, including climate change, biodiversity loss, inequality, conflict, migration and food security.

Right now we have an opportunity to rebuild our society in the most sustainable way and ensure real life changes for the people and nature most in need.

We are proud to present the following key-note speakers & presenters:

  • Rasmus Prehn. Minister for Development Cooperation
  • Bo Øksnebjerg. General Secretary, WWF Denmark
  • Tim Christophersen, Head Nature for Climate Branch, UNEP
  • Stewart Maginnis, Global Director, Nature Based Solutions Group, IUCN
  • Ingrid Reumert, VP, Global Communications, Sustainability & Public Affairs, Velux
