THURSDAY TALK: Shaylı Kartal on Decolonising Climate Activism
The climate crisis is undeniably one of the biggest challenges of our times and fighting against it is crucial. Yet, we need to ask who it is that gets to take center stage among activists fighting for a greener future? On what assumptions do we build our understanding of climate crisis, climate activism and global environmental solidarity on? In his Thursday Talk, Shaylı Kartal will examine some of these questions and provide a decolonial perspective on the climate crisis. Come and join us for an inspiring talk and lively discussion! Don’t forget to press ‘going’ so we know how many people will be there.
Shaylı holds a degree in Africa Studies from Leipzig University and is a decolonial climate activist in Germany and beyond. We are excited to have him in Copenhagen and curious to learn more about decolonising (climate) activism globally.
This event is part of the Thursday Talks events series at Global Aktion where every Thursday at 7pm we invite you to our office at Wesselsgade 2, Copenhagen: At the Thusday talks, we gather for talks and panel discussions on topics that range from political analyses of Turkey to the interlinkages between class and climate crisis.
