Food For Thought with Yasmin Abdel-Hak
Welcome to Food For Thought 2022!! We are opening this year’s season of Food For Thought with a very inspiring story of Yasmin Abdel-Hak.
Yasmin is a human rights lawyer, who has been working with asylum applicants and refugees for many years. Yasmin used to work for the Danish Immigration Service, dealing with refugees from around the world, including Afghanistan and Iraq. She has been working with UNHCR and resettled refugees from the Middle East in Denmark.
She has also been working as a Project Manager on EU projects in Turkey, Romania and Poland.
Besides being a lawyer, she holds a Master´s Degree in Middle Eastern Studies. She is a contributor to the online media Point of View International where she regularly writes about politics in the Middle East.
She is the founder of Global Migration and Politics, and teaches and gives classes and lectures on Middle East politics, human rights, international politics, democracy, global citizenship and civic empowerment. She is also working on her podcast series on the Middle East (Let´s talk about the Middle East), which covers the climate crisis in the region, politics, reviews on books on and from the region, female agency and women´s rights issues in the Middle East.
