Named as the worlds most corrupt country for four consecutive years, Bangladesh has launched an independent judicial commission to fight corruption and improve its image abroad, officials said Monday, according to the World Bank press review.
Berlin-based corruption watchdog Transparency International placed Bangladesh dead last in its Corruption Perceptions Index each year from 2001, although Haiti ties with Bangladesh this year.
The panel was named a day after Finance Minister M. Saifur Rahman left for a World Bank conference in Germany, where he will also meet Transparency officials to protest against what he called its incorrect assessment of Bangladeshs crime situation.
