The Post of Zambia writes that Finland has assured Zambia of continued aid flow even if the country fails to meet the IMF and World Bank conditionalities.
Charge daffaires at the Finnish Embassy in Lusaka, Jorma Suvanto, said that whatever the outcome of assessment of Zambias performance towards attaining the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) was, his government would continue its external assistance.
He said his country appreciated and understood that Zambia needed more aid to enable it respond to pressing needs, hence its plans to even increase its annual bilateral assistance from the current 5 million euro to 10 million.
Last year, Zambia failed to reach the HIPC completion point, which made the international community suspend balance of payments support.
