Cine & Debate #4

Join our monthly movieclub!

After the movie there will be time to talk a little bit about the different topics of which the movie portrays, together with us. We will try to put the content of the film into a perspective of the current situation in Central America.

The movie touches the problems of living in a world which is controlled by the cartel through fear and violence, like the situations around central America today. Even though this world is not ideal to live in, it’s all that people ever knew and therefore they learn to adapt to survive through the harsh realities of living.

Seen through the eyes of kids who are still too young to fully understand what’s going on around them, the movie shows how kids are still forced to face all the suffering that surrounds them every day.
The movie is a story of childhood, in a timeless México where women are disappearing, a girl wears a mask to hide her gender. She helps her dad, a tormented addict, to take care of an abandoned baseball camp where the narcos gather to play. The father tries to protect her as he can. With the help of her friends, a group of lost boys who have the power of camouflaging themselves in the windy desert, Huck must fight to overcome her reality and to defeat the local capo.

Language: Spanish with English subtitles.
