Food For Thought with Mille Rode

At a time when threats against the fundamental principles of press freedom around the world are at an unprecedented high, PEN’s community continues to defend and protect the role of an independent and free press in uncovering the truth and sustaining democracy.

For a century now, PEN’s global membership has been mobilising in support of an independent and free press, defending journalists who are emotionally, verbally and physically threatened and sometimes killed for speaking truth to power, and urging political leaders to guarantee freedom of expression.

Come listen to Mille Rode, the general secretary of the Danish part of the writer’s organization PEN talking about the current situation in the world and telling us a bit about her personal story with PEN Denmark. Mille Rode has been the general secretary at the Danish affiliate of PEN since 1995.

Dansk PEN is an association with more than 400 Danish writers and journalists who work for the spread of freedom of expression and literature across borders.
