Gendered Effects of the Pandemic in Africa – Ways Forwards

Join us on the International Women’s Day 2022 for a webinar where we will discuss how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected women and girls in Africa, with a specific focus on Ghana, South Africa and Uganda. We will also discuss the gendered needs in a post-pandemic scenario and phase of recovery.

The pandemic has affected African women and girls in adverse ways further emphasising existing gender inequalities. During this webinar, we will raise the following issues; What are the experiences from the pandemic of different Ghanaian, South African and Ugandan women? How has the pandemic affected women’s care work? And what have the implications been for sexual and gender-based violence?

We will also address the local responses from the women’s organisations, and debate to which extent gender perspectives are reflected in post-pandemic responses such as national policies and plans for recovery.

The webinar will be moderated by Diana Højlund Madsen, Senior Gender Researcher, The Nordic Africa Institute

This webinar is free and open for all, attendance by registration.
