Kursus: Feminist leadership and organisation building – Potentials for transformative CSOs

Are you interested in learning/get inspired on how your organisation and leadership can develop in a feminist direction? Does your organisation work for social transformation and/or gender justice? Then this training might be just what you, your colleagues and/or your leaders need.

The training will unpack what feminist leadership is, how it can be practiced, its purposes and potentials for CSOs that work for social transformation. The training will combine inspirational talks and inputs with exercises, cases, and workshop sessions where the participating organisations can work and develop their own feminist journey.

No-show fee: 250DKK

Trainer

Joanna Maycock. Joanna Maycock’s consultancy practice is working to support Civil Society leadership to bring feminist principles into systems change and working with leaders to build working cultures aligned to their values. Her focus is on the feminist understanding of power and moving from coercive to transformative power.

As central to intersectional feminist leadership is the idea of disrupting the notion of power as being finite – i.e. either yours or mine – to see power instead as an endless resource that can be shared.

Joanna Maycock has over 25 years experience in leadership positions in European and international Civil Society in Brussels, such as with ActionAid and president of CONCORD. Most recently, she was Secretary General of the European Women’s Lobby.

Target group

The training is relevant for staff and leaders in CSOs who are either building, strengthening and/or advancing feminist leadership practices in their organisations.

The first half day of the training (February 22nd 9-12) will specifically target the leadership level of CSO’s, who cannot commit to the full 2-days program.

Background

This training was developed by- and for the participating organisations in the Feminist Network, which consists of ActionAid Denmark, Oxfam IBIS, The Danish Family Planning Association and The Women’s Council Denmark.

The Feminist Network was formed in early 2022 to develop our own capacities by applying feminist principles and approaches to our work.

This training is the first of three planned training sessions in 2023. The focus for this first training is the internal organisational and leadership level. The training has been designed based on needs assessments of the four organisations in the Feminist Network. These four organisations have varying needs; Some are just getting started with building feminist leadership- and organisational principles, while others are advancing their existing principles intro practice. This leaves room for CSOs at different stages of their feminist journey.
