Loss & Damage Conference
The climate crisis is causing escalating human suffering around the world. The negative impacts of climate change are predicted to cause overwhelming economic costs and inevitable losses in years to come. First and foremost, Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States, which have contributed the least to the climate crisis, are struggling to address its consequences. We know that additional mitigation or adaptation measures are not sufficient, which means we are looking into a future of unavoidable losses and damages.
Anticipatory actions are effective tools in the effort to better understand, manage and bring down some of the unavoidable losses and damages. But these efforts only cover a small part of the full disaster risk cycle. More investments are needed in early warning systems, preparedness and alternative financing structures.
Join the Danish Red Cross and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a discussion on how innovative partnerships and financing mechanisms can work as a tool to respond to loss and damage.
